During the working dinner in Berlin’s Steigenberger Hotel, Mr Putin and Mr Berlusconi discussed current international issues and various aspects of bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders also examined in detail coordination of all-round counter-terrorist measures and the proposal to hold an extraordinary summit of the G8 heads of state and government to work out a single counter-terrorist strategy.
Addressing the media after the meeting, President Putin noted with approval Italy’s clear position on key aspects of the global agenda and underlined the practical importance of the proposals made by the Italian leader.
Mr Berlusconi in his turn advocated deeper cooperation between Russia and Europe, including in economic, political and military spheres. According to Mr Berlusconi, such interaction would raise Europe’s authority in implementing domestic tasks and projects.
