Mr Putin and Mr Kuchma exchanged their opinions on the international situation following the tragic events in the US on September 11 and the efforts that were being taken by the international community in the fight against terrorism.

The Presidents discussed key bilateral issues related to cooperation in trade and the economy. Mr Putin and Mr Kuchma expressed their satisfaction with negotiations held by the prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine on the gas problem, which had brought the two sides closer to its solution.

President Putin and President Kuchma agreed to take part in the planned meeting between the business communities of Russia and Ukraine.
