During a comprehensive conversation the two leaders exchanged views on topical international issues including cooperation between Russia and France in settling regional conflicts and, in this context, the prospects for settling the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Mr Putin and Mr Chirac also discussed the preparations for a visit to Russia by the French President in 2001. Both leaders said they were pleased with the results of Russian-French cooperation in 2000.
