President Vladimir Putin met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai

They noted with satisfaction that Russia and Vietnam had implemented a considerable part of agreements made during Mr Putin’s visit to Hanoi in March. In particular, they stressed major progress in oil production by the Vietsovpetro joint venture. Mr Putin confirmed that Russia would take the most active part possible in the further development of Vietnamese energy industry and in establishing new joint ventures.

They also discussed technical aspects of passing Russian-used Camranh projects to Vietnam. The President and the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of related negotiations.
