President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at the Meetings in Russia 2001 session of the World Economic Forum

October 30, 2001, Moscow

Mr Putin said that Russia intended to take an active part in integration processes and liberalisation in the world economy. He pointed out that Russia had created a favourable environment for business. In particular, he noted that Russia’s new tax rates introduced as of the beginning of the year were the lowest in Europe.

Mr Putin also said that Russia intended to enter the World Trade Organisation on normal terms, without any requirements that would only be imposed on Russia.
