Mr Putin said that Russia insisted on a just oil price corridor and was holding active consultations with principal oil exporting countries.
He emphasised the permanence and vitality of the Russian-Venezuelan dialogue, and stressed its positive content, especially from the point of steady global crude oil supplies.
Mr Putin and Mr Chavez focussed on the situation in the global petroleum markets. Mr Chavez summarised his tour of European countries and informed Mr Putin about decisions the upcoming OPEC meeting was expected to make. These decisions meant, on the one hand, to preserve the stability of oil extraction and production and, on the other hand, to prevent major oil price fluctuations.
