In the telephone conversation the Russian head of state congratulated Mr Kuchma on Ukraine’s presidency of the UN Security Council, which began March 1.
The two Presidents exchanged views on the present state and development of relations between the two countries and discussed a wide range of international issues.
The Russian and Ukrainian leaders underlined the need to implement the agreements reached during their meeting in Dnepropetrovsk on February 11 and 12 and agreed to continue the dialogue at the top level.
