In accordance with his will, the ashes of Shigeki Mori, the father of Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and long-time mayor of Neagari, Japan, were partially buried in a grave in this Siberian town. Shigeki Mori devoted about 30 years to maintaining friendly twin-city relations between Neagari and Shelekhov.
Vladimir Putin and Yoshiro Mori laid flowers at the monument.
