The Russian economy should be integrated into the international economic space, and this process should have no negative consequences for Russian producers, the President said during his conversation with the WTO Director-General.
Russia is not asking for any special privileges; rather, it wants its foreign partners to treat it the same as any other country when discussing the country’s entry to the WTO.
Mr Putin said that the restructuring of the Russian economy had not yet been completed, and some industries still remained uncompetitive. However, the country was witnessing a number of positive tendencies and hoped that its foreign partners would understand the problems it faced, the President said.
In his turn, Mr Moore said that the WTO could not be a truly global organisation without Russia.
