At their negotiations in the Kremlin, Mr Putin and Mr Robertson discussed prospects for global strategic stability in case the United States implemented its plans to deploy a national missile defence system.
The President also outlined Russia’s proposals on the establishment of a European missile defence system. The President said Russia was ready to send its experts to Brussels as soon as possible to explain its proposals to European public opinion.
The head of state said that European Union countries could take part in the work of the Russian-American rocket launches information exchange centre.
In the course of the negotiations, Mr Putin and Mr Robertson examined possible consequences of NATO’s enlargement, the situation in the Balkans and discussed the after-effects of the air bombardment of Iraq by U.S. and United Kingdom air forces.
