Russia’s proposals on security cooperation are not limited to using the Gabala radar station, President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following talks with U.S. President George W. Bush.

Russia is ready to reconstruct the Gabala radar station if necessary, and if this is not enough, it is also ready to include a new station being built in southern Russia in the missile defence information exchange system.

Mr Putin also proposed expanding the consultations on missile defence, using the Russia-NATO Council as a forum and involving interested European countries in the discussion.

Another possibility, the President said, is to establish missile defence information exchange centres, including in Moscow.

If Moscow and Washington reach an agreement on missile defence and other strategic stability issues it would take Russian-U.S. relations to an entirely new strategic level, Mr Putin said.
