The message said, in part:

“Our main task is to combine the efforts of the Russian and Moldovan governments to give impetus to Russian-Moldovan relations, expand and strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation between the peoples of our countries, who are historic neighbours and partners in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“Russia is ready to cooperate with a united Moldova, both bilaterally and internationally.”
