Presidents Putin and Mubarak discussed bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East.
Summarising the results of the negotiations, the two leaders signed the Russian-Egyptian Declaration on Principles of Friendly Relations and Cooperation. The document said that Russia and Egypt pledged to work together to achieve a lasting, comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East. The declaration stressed the intention of Russia and Egypt to develop and strengthen bilateral relations in the trade, economic, scientific and technical spheres by promoting direct links between companies from both countries, developing industrial cooperation and establishing joint ventures.
