President Putin submitted agreements with Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus and Armenia on jurisdiction issues and mutual legal assistance in cases pertaining to the stay of Russian military units in these countries.
A Russian-Kazakh treaty on joint protection of external borders and another agreement on the status of Russian military units temporarily deployed in Kazakhstan were also submitted to the State Duma.
In his letter to State Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznyov, President Putin said: “these international treaties do not envisage any limitations of the Russian Federation’s jurisdiction and allow the country to exercise a measure of jurisdiction on the territory of foreign states with their consent.”
