President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was ready to host the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and that Sochi was the best choice for the games. Moreover, President Putin emphasised that, no matter what decision the International Olympic Committee had made, Sochi's application had already been useful. A new Olympic complex will be the first world-class sports centre in present-day Russia.

After the presentation, President Putin visited Russia House,the headquarters of the Russian delegation during the IOC session.

The head of state thanked the Russian and the Guatemalan representatives for their help in the preparation of Sochi's application.

Immediately after his visit to Russia House Vladimir Putin left Guatemala, even before the final vote had taken place.
