President Putin has instructed the government cabinet, the Russian Olympic and Paralympic committees, to form a co-ordinating committee for the preparation of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games and the 11th Paralympic Games in 2014 in Sochi.

In addition, the cabinet was instructed to prepare proposals to ensure the security of the participants, the guests, and of Olympic and other installations connected with the Games.

The decree also outlines the preparation of the transportation and social infrastructure required for the Olympics, as well as the preparation of Olympic venues and the organisation of a system of traffic routes to and from the Games.

At the same time, the cabinet was requested to take steps to provide Olympic participants and guests with a simplified way of obtaining permission to enter the Russian Federation and of passing through border and customs controls.
