August 1, 2007

Mr Putin congratulated Mr Bakiev on his birthday, wished him success and said he was confident that the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek would be of the highest organisational and political level.

Earlier in the day, Mr Putin sent Mr Bakiev a message of congratulations on his birthday.

The President’s message read, in particular:

“Russia highly values the contribution you have made to strengthening the multifaceted ties between our countries. Your personal efforts have contributed considerably to implementing bilateral economic and humanitarian projects and opening up new opportunities for business and public initiatives.

I am sure that the strategic partnership between Russia and Kyrgyzstan will continue its dynamic development and will play an important part in deepening the integration processes in the CIS area and in strengthening peace, stability and security in Central Asia”.
