The leaders of the two countries discussed the recent developments in the Middle East, and acute problems of Lebanese-Israeli and Lebanese-Syrian relations. Mr Hariri stressed Russia’s active role in settling the Middle Eastern crisis.
They exchanged opinions on the situation around Iraq and emphasised the need to strictly observe a relevant UN resolution on the issue.
They paid special attention to bilateral trade and economic relations, in particular Russia’s participation in the construction of an oil refinery in Lebanon.
