Mr Putin heard reports from Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu, Minister for Regional Affairs Vladimir Yakovlev, and Governor of Sakhalin Region Ivan Malakhov on the situation in the disaster area.

The President instructed them to prepare a report on work to deal with the earthquake’s aftermath, construction of a new residential district for those who lost their homes, rebuilding of infrastructure, measures taken to prepare for the winter period, allocation of the necessary funds and resources, and implementation of the objectives set.

Mr Shoigu, Mr Yakovlev and Mr Malakhov will present their report to the President on August 7.
