President Putin conveyed his deep condolences to relatives and friends of Mr Ugryumov.
Mr Ugryumov had been in Chechnya since January 2001. He headed the counter-terrorist centre of the Federal Security Service. For his active participation in some special operations during hostilities in Chechnya Mr Ugryumov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia. Mr Ugryumov suddenly died on May 31, in Chechnya.
