June 18, 2001, Moscow

Vladimir Putin received credentials from extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of the Republic of Benin, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Bangladesh, Yugoslavia, Rwanda and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President underlined that the key role played by the United Nations, and that the observance of its Charter and a steadfast fulfillment of international treaties were essential for meeting global challenges, such as the threat to strategic stability, military and political crises in some countries, international terrorism and cross-border crime.
