The new legislation provides for the monitoring of financial operations by appropriate government agencies with a view to detecting suspicious transactions. It will give Russia a regulatory framework needed to join international efforts against money laundering, including in information sharing, legal assistance, the extradition of criminals, the recognition of verdicts handed down by foreign courts, and the seizure of illegally obtained funds.
