President Vladimir Putin met with a new president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, and the honorary president of the same committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch

President Putin thanked the top officials of the International Olympic Committee for their positive attitude to the idea of nominating Moscow as the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games and noted the great services rendered by ex-IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch to the Olympic movement.

Mr Putin expressed hope that the new IOC president would carry on the Olympic traditions established by his predecessor.
