The Presidents of 11 CIS member states gathered in Almaty at an informal CIS Summit which is due to take place on February 28 — March 2, 2002.
At present the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States are Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
