President Vladimir Putin received former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, Special Envoy of the Japanese Government to the Situation Around Afghanistan

Vladimir Putin and Yoshiro Mori discussed more active Russian-Japanese efforts to combat international terrorism, to facilitate the post-conflict rehabilitation of Afghanistan and economic cooperation with Central Asian states.

Mr Putin and Mr Mori also focused on important aspects of Russian-Japanese relations and reaffirmed their intention to expand bilateral ties in various spheres such as large-scale trade and economic cooperation, active cooperation on the international scene and subsequent peace treaty talks.
