President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov discussed the agenda of the upcoming foreign-policy consultations with NATO and the United States

March 4, 2002, The Kremlin, Moscow

Mr Putin and Mr Ivanov discussed Russia-NATO talks on establishing a new agency for cooperation within the Political G20 format. Mr Ivanov said there were problems in Russian-US consultations on strategic offensive weapons, but that both sides were merging their positions.

Igor Ivanov informed President Putin about the results of his visit to Italy and said the visit had mostly aimed to prepare the visit of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to Moscow.

President Putin ordered the Foreign Ministry to implement specific decisions made at the informal CIS summit in Almaty.
