Mr Lebedev informed the President about legislative initiatives to improve the way legal proceedings are conducted, especially with regard to civil cases.

Mr Putin supported Mr Lebedev’s request to speed up examination in the State Duma of a draft law that aims to simplify court supervisory review procedures. In particular, the draft law aims to reduce the supervisory review stage for civil cases.

Mr Putin also approved Mr Lebedev’s proposal to give general jurisdiction judges the power to examine some matters currently examined by the European Court of Human Rights.
