July 2, 2002

The message to Jean Chretien said, in part:

“I have warm memories of my recent visit to Canada. Thank you for the wonderful organisation of the G8 summit. I am also glad that we negotiated separately in Kananaskis and discussed important aspects of bilateral cooperation.

“I am convinced that close Russian-Canadian cooperation, including that on the international stage, is an important contribution to strengthening global security and stability and facilitates efforts to cope with global challenges and threats.”

The message to Adrienne Clarkson said, in part:

“I recall with satisfaction the successful development of Russian-Canadian relations in the last few years. I am convinced that multi-faceted bilateral ties will continue to develop actively to the benefit of both nations.

“I wish you health and success in your responsible work, as well as prosperity and wellbeing to the friendly Canadian nation in a world of international peace and stability.”
