They discussed the schedule for the forthcoming inter-parliamentary contacts. Mr Seleznev briefed the President on the planned participation of Russian lawmakers in the OSCE General Assembly to be held at the end of the week in Berlin. Gennady Seleznev intended to continue Russia’s dialogue on the problem of the Kaliningrad Region with his foreign colleagues.

Mr Putin and Mr Seleznev discussed the role of European parliamentary structures in debates on Kaliningrad in view of the forthcoming EU expansion. They also touched upon preparations for the first session of the parliamentary assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) due to be held in November 2002 in Tajikistan.
