The meeting took place in the Kremlin and the results of the Federation Council’s spring session that just ended and plans for the upcoming political term were discussed.
President Putin thanked house members for their active law-making and praised their constructive attitude in the final days of the session.
He noted that an important phase of work had been completed and that key legislative acts had been adopted as part of judicial, military and tax reforms, laying fresh foundations for the state’s functioning.
President Putin said the main item on the autumn agenda for the Russian parliament was to adopt a budget for the country, which would be well balanced, with clearly defined priorities and, most important of all, with a surplus.
Federation Council members informed the President about the agreement with the Cabinet to call a trilateral working group on July 31 (with representatives from both chambers of the Federal Assembly and the Government) on reforming budget relations.
