The Russian-French talks during Nicolas Sarkozy's first to Russia as President of France focused on detailed and in-depth discussion of all aspects of the two countries' bilateral cooperation. During informal contacts and the formal talks, there was an exchange of views on the current situation in various areas of cooperation and on specific prospects for relations between the two countries.

In Moscow bilateral economic relations and key regional and global problems were extensively discussed. The sides noted significant progress in the political, cultural and economic cooperation between Russia and France. However, it was noted that the potential for concerted action is still great. It is in the interests of both countries to give a new impetus to all business-related cooperation. The implementation of major joint projects, especially in such high-tech fields as aviation and the automotive industry, space exploration and the development of telecommunications and transport infrastructure will make this possible.

Vladimir Putin praised the outcome of the meeting and expressed the hope that it will be an important milestone in the development of bilateral cooperation.
