President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with U.S. President George W. Bush

October 22, 2007

As part of their regular exchanges of views on international affairs, the two Presidents discussed the outcome of the recent 2+2 meeting between the Russian and U.S. foreign and defence ministers. Both sides noted this mechanism’s usefulness in bilateral relations in that it provides an opportunity for detailed examination of the most relevant strategic issues.

The two Presidents underscored the importance of maintaining and developing this and other cooperation mechanisms in the interests of ensuring long-term prospects for Russian-American cooperation.

The conversation took place at the United States’ initiative.
