Mr Putin noted that once again, the public has raised a great many issues for the authorities to address. The President will oversee the implementation of the instructions issued following the Hot Line broadcast on October 18.

The Government staff is currently drawing up concrete instructions for the relevant ministries and agencies. Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said that practical work to carry out these instructions would begin by the end of the week.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported on a meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers with regional authorities from the border regions and informed the President about an upcoming visit to Japan.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov reported on an upcoming meeting of the Russia-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission.
