Gerhard Schroeder once again expressed his condolences in connection with the brutal May 9 terrorist act that killed 30 people in Kaspiisk, Dagestan.

Mr Putin thanked Mr Schroeder for his compassion and noted the great moral-political significance of the solidarity displayed by most national leaders.

President Putin and Chancellor Schroeder discussed some aspects of bilateral relations and said the Russian-German forum “Together Into the 21st Century” and the Russian and German language Olympiad, now underway in Moscow, were important steps towards expanding such relations.

The conversation was held on the initiative of the German side.
