During the discussion Ban Ki-moon noted the importance he attaches to the 13th Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 3rd Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol that will take place 3 – 14 December 2007 in Bali, Indonesia. Mr Ki-moon emphasized Russia's important role in deciding on a future international climate regime. The Secretary General also expressed his hope that constructive cooperation while characterise the events in Bali.
Ban Ki-moon also expressed his appreciation for the Russian party's cooperation in the successful international meeting on the Middle East that was held in Annapolis, USA, and his willingness to hold the next forum devoted to the Middle East in Moscow.
The conversation took place at the UN Secretary General's initiative.
