President Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing the organising committee to prepare and organise the Russian Federation's chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum in 2012

The decree approves the Regulation on the Organising Committee, which defines the committee’s status and sets out the legal basis for its work. The committee’s responsibilities include drafting and presenting to the President an approved plan and concept for Russia’s chairmanship of the APEC forum and coordinating the federal and regional executive authorities’ work to implement the plan, including the organisation of public procurement for deliveries of the relevant goods and provision of work and services.

The decree also approves the committee’s membership, which comprises 15 senior federal officials and the governor of Primorye Region. Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko has been appointed chairman of the committee, and his deputies are Regional Development Minister Dmitry Kozak and Deputy Chief of the Presidential Foreign Policy Directorate Sergei Vyazalov.

Other members of the organising committee include Chief of the Presidential Household Department Vladimir Kozhin, Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Government Staff Sergei Naryshkin, Natural Resources Minister Yury Trutnev, Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko, Transport Minister Igor Levitin, Economic Development and Trade Minister Elvira Nabiullina, and a number of other senior officials.
