Mr Medvedev instructed president of Daghestan Mukha Aliyev to provide the two officers’ families with all the necessary material and moral support.

In a series of telephone conversations, the President gave instructions regarding the case to Russian Minister of the Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev and Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov.

Daghestan’s interior minister, Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, was shot dead by unidentified assailants today in the republic’s capital, Makhachkala. Head of the Daghestan Interior Ministry’s rear division Abdurazak Abakarov, was wounded in the attack and died later in hospital.
