In his speech the President of Russia noted the unique tradition of close friendship between the Russian and Bulgarian peoples. President Putin stressed that this friendship has actually always been the defining characteristic of relations between the two countries.
Concerning Bulgaria’s decision to join NATO, the President said that Russia would respect Bulgaria’s decision.
