The leaders discussed implementing the agreements reached during Mr Medvedev’s state visit to the Kingdom of Spain on March 1–3, 2009. Particular focus was given to issues of economic and investment-related cooperation, including within the energy sector. Emphasis was placed on the importance of this type of cooperation in working together to overcome problems stemming from the global crisis.

Dmitry Medvedev and Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero shared their views on implementing the resolutions made at the G20 summits in Washington and London, noting the particular importance of reforming the global financial system.

The President of Russia and the Prime Minister of Spain agreed to continue to share their views regularly on current bilateral and international matters.
