Vladimir Putin and Mahmoud Abbas discussed the problem of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, as well as the prospect of an international conference in Moscow on the Middle East.

Vladimir Putin stated that Russia welcomes and will fully support the efforts of the leaders of Palestine and Israel in their attempts to create some positive momentum towards a settlement.

Mahmoud Abbas stressed that Moscow's support is very important for Palestine. He hopes that the Moscow conference will be successful.

The meeting was attended by Presidential Aide Sergei Prikhodko, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Middle East Aleksandr Saltanov, and a member of the Central Committee of Fatah and the Palestinian Legislative Council, Nabil Schaas.
