Mr Putin thanked everyone in the Government and Presidential Executive Office, who worked at various periods over these last eight years and made their contribution to reviving the Russian economy, developing the social sector and strengthening the country’s defence capability.

The President said that much work lies ahead on implementing a whole package of important initiatives in taxation and finances, healthcare, education, rural development and housing policy.

Mr Putin called on the Cabinet members and Presidential Executive Office staff to take a highly responsible attitude towards work on Russia’s long-term development strategy and to ensure full and thorough implementation of all the set objectives.

The meeting was attended by all members of the Government Cabinet and by the heads and officials of the Presidential Executive Office.
