The Russian President met with members of the royal family: King of Spain Juan Carlos I, Queen Sofia, Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia. He also participated in a meeting with rectors of Russian, Spanish, and Latin American universities, and the concluding session of the Russian-Spanish forum for dialogue on civil society.
Dmitry Medvedev visited the Madrid town hall, where the Mayor of the Spanish capital, Alberto Ruiz Gallardon Jimenez, handed him the Golden Key to Madrid.
The same day, Mr Medvedev laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fallen for Spain.
