President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister of Spain Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero signed a Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Russia and Spain that covers all aspects of their relations, including political, economic, cultural, scientific, technical and educational spheres.

Dmitry Medvedev said that the Declaration broadens the horizons for cooperation on all fronts and acts as the foundation for other agreements reached during the negotiations.

The parties also signed documents on cooperation in energy and tourism, and a number of agreements in the fields of transport, electric power industry, finance and the media. The agreement on the transit of Spanish military equipment and personnel to Afghanistan through Russia is particularly important.
