The Russian and U.S. Presidents adopted joint declarations on developing Russian-U.S. relations and making further cutbacks to strategic offensive weapons

April 1, 2009

Dmitry Medvedev and President of the United States Barack Obama met on the eve of the G20 summit in London. The two Presidents concluded their talks with the adoption of two joint declarations – on developing Russian-American relations, and on further reductions to strategic offensive weapons.

This first meeting with President Obama makes it possible to look at the future of Russian-American relations with optimism, Mr Medvedev said after the meeting. The discussions showed that there are a lot more issues that unite Russia and the USA than divide them.
