The telegram reads, in the part:

“In recent years the Institute has become one of the most famous and influential academic establishments not only in our country but also abroad. Prominent scientists such as Leonid Kantorovich, Mstislav Keldysh, Andrei Kolmogorov and Nikolai Bogolyubov have worked there. Discoveries made in the Institute have in large measure defined the development of the exact sciences in the 20th century and provided the basis for technological breakthroughs in key sectors of the national economy and space exploration.

Today in the laboratories of the Institute mathematicians are conducting fruitful research on the fundamental problems of mathematics. The Institute is a home to a new generation of research mathematicians, and involved in large-scale international projects.

I hope that your one-of-a-kind team will continue to make significant contributions to major theoretical and applied problems and to enhance the prestige of Russian science.”
