Dmitry Medvedev made a working visit to St Petersburg

The President officially opened the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. In his speech at the ceremony Mr Medvedev said he hoped that the library will soon become one of the world’s biggest information portals, and stressed that what makes it so valuable is that anyone in any place with access to the internet can enter the library and use its resources. Mr Medvedev got an overview of the possibilities offered by the library’s electronic reading room, and visited its multimedia and exhibition rooms, and Constitution room.

The President, together with Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, visited the house Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils in the Synod building.

During his working visit Mr Medvedev visited Transas high-tech company. The company is involved in the manufacture and supply of coastal vessel traffic management systems, marine and aviation onboard equipment, a wide range of marine and aviation training simulators and equipment for air navigation.

Support for mortgage loan programmes at federal and regional level was one of the subjects on the agenda of the meeting with Governor of St Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko.

The President visited Peter and Paul Cathedral, where he laid flowers at Peter the Great’s gravestone.
