The Russian President appointed Rashid Gaisanov Acting President of the Republic of Ingushetia, as President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov is unable to do his duties.

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov was the victim of an assassination attempt made in the morning of June 22, 2009 when a suicide bomber detonated a car filled with explosives as the Ingush President’s convoy drove by heading to the Presidential Palace in Magas.

Mr Yevkurov was seriously wounded in the explosion and is currently undergoing treatment at Moscow’s Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery.
