In his speech at the Russian-American business summit, the President of Russia emphasised the importance for American partners to get involved not only in the oil and gas sector, but other sectors as well: traditional Russian industries and the high-tech sector. Mr Medvedev stated that strong business contacts would lead to better communication regarding the most difficult issues in international affairs and bilateral relations.

The President of Russia pointed out that the United States is Russia’s long-standing and promising partner, and noted that the business community has not turned down joint projects despite recent complications in the countries’ bilateral relations and the global economic crisis.

In order to improve business dialogue, the Presidents of the two countries created a new administrative instrument: the U.S.- Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission, which will promote various aspects of cooperation.
