Presenting Russian Federation National Awards

June 12, 2014, The Kremlin, Moscow

On Russia Day, Vladimir Putin presented the 2013 National Awards in science and technology, literature and the arts, and for outstanding achievements in humanitarian work.

The National Award in Science and Technology was presented to Anatoly Grigoryev for theoretical work, development and practical implementation of a medical system for space crews on long space flights; to Viktor Maslov — for an outstanding contribution to mathematics and establishing the mathematical foundations of modern thermodynamics; and to Alexander Chubaryan – for fundamental studies of the history of relations between Russia and Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries, and for his major contribution to the development of new conceptual approaches to teaching history in general schools and higher education institutions.

The Russia Federation National Award in Literature and the Arts was presented to musician and conductor Yury Bashmet for his contribution to developing Russian and world culture; to writer Fazil Iskander for his contribution to the development of Russian literature; to producer Leonid Vereshchagin, producer Anton Zlatopolsky, and director Nikolai Lebedev for the feature film Legenda No. 17.

The Russian Federation National Award in Humanitarian Work was presented to Yevgeny Primakov, a prominent statesman and public figure.

After the ceremony, an official reception to mark the national holiday, Russia Day, was held in the Kremlin’s Ivan Square.
