In his congratulatory message to Michaelle Jean, President Medvedev expresses a high opinion of the long-standing traditions of friendship and cooperation between Russia and Canada, and notes that in recent years, bilateral relations between the two countries have expanded, including within priority sectors such as investment, trade and economic ties, and development of the Northern and Arctic Regions.

In his message to Stephen Harper, Dmitry Medvedev notes the positive momentum of their countries’ bilateral relations, their fruitful cooperation in trade and investment, and in resolution of problems in developing the Northern and Arctic Regions. The message also states that Russia considers Canada to be a reliable partner in the international arena, one that our country actively cooperates with on a wide range of issues.
